Hong Konger residents in Thailand for 6+ months are typically required by Hong Kong SAR authorities to submit a "country of residence" police-clearance certificate â most commonly for Permanent Residency application in Hong Kong SAR, Work-visa renewal or naturalisation in Hong Kong SAR, Cross-border marriage registration in Hong Kong SAR.
The Special Branch (Criminal Investigation Division, Royal Thai Police) is the only issuing authority for foreign residents; fingerprinting is mandatory for every application.
