FAQ (Thailand Privilege 2026)

How is Thailand Privilege different from the old Elite Visa?

On 1 Oct 2023 TPC rebranded 'Thailand Elite' → 'Thailand Privilege' and consolidated the old 7-tier structure into 4 tiers: Reserve (invite-only 5M/20y), Diamond (2.5M/15y), Gold (900k/10y), Silver (650k/5y). Existing members keep their legacy benefits until expiry (grandfathered).

Gold vs LTR WFTP — which is better?

For remote work with a foreign employer (rev ≥ US$150M) → LTR WFTP wins (17% flat tax + free Digital WP + total fees only ~THB 120k). For freelancers/semi-retired who don't need a WP → Gold 900k is better (no employer proof + concierge/airport service).

Does Elite Visa allow working in Thailand?

No — all Thailand Privilege tiers forbid working in Thailand ('Privilege Entry Visa', not a working visa). Detected working (even remote with Thai clients) risks revocation and no refund. For lawful remote work use DTV (THB 10k / 5y) or LTR WFTP.

What are Privilege Points and what can I redeem?

PP = annual member points — Silver 20 · Gold 35 · Diamond 55 · Reserve 120. Redeem for golf (5 PP/round), spa (3 PP), medical (10 PP), dining, limousine transfer (5 PP), airport meet-and-assist (2 PP). 1 PP ≈ THB 10,000 of service value. Non-cumulative across years.

Is the family add-on worth it for a family of 4?

Diamond 2.5M + 3 dependents × 1.5M = 7M total / 15y = THB 466k/yr/family. Gold 900k + 3 × 700k = 3M / 10y = THB 300k/yr — good ROI if you use 60%+ of PP + fast-track. If travelling < 4 times/yr, multiple Non-O visas cost less.

Can Silver be renewed?

Silver cannot be renewed — after 5 years buy a new tier. TPC offers an 'upgrade offer' to move Silver → Gold for only THB 250k extra (vs 900k normal) if done 6+ months before expiry. Diamond can be renewed once for a further 15 years → 30 years total.

Is Elite Visa a Permanent Residency (PR)?

No — it's a Privilege Entry (Non-Immigrant PE) visa. When it expires (5/10/15/20 years) you must leave. For PR file separately (Non-B continuous 3 yrs + THB 100k/yr tax) or use LTR which most closely mimics PR.

Tax status of Elite Visa holders?

Staying < 180 days/yr = non-tax-resident (no Thai tax). ≥ 180 days = tax-resident (worldwide income remitted to Thailand same year is taxable per RD Decree 743/2022). Elite does NOT get 17% flat tax like LTR — normal 5-35% brackets apply.
