Current status of TM.6
Paper TM.6 was formally abolished on 15 April 2022 to streamline post-COVID entry. Since 1 May 2025 the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Bureau launched the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC), filed online up to 3 days before entry — required for all foreign travellers arriving by air, sea, or land. Thai passport holders and children under 2 are exempt.
How to file TDAC (replaces TM.6)
1) Visit tdac.immigration.go.th 2) Enter passport, flight, accommodation, and purpose of visit 3) Receive a QR code by email 4) Show the QR at Immigration Clearance — no print required, mobile display accepted.
TM.6 vs TDAC vs TM.30 — commonly confused
TM.6/TDAC = filed by the traveller (arrival card). TM.30 = filed by the accommodation owner within 24 hours of a foreign guest checking in. TM.28 = filed by the foreigner within 24 hours of changing address inside Thailand. Three separate legal duties.
Penalties for missing TDAC
Immigration may deny boarding or require on-arrival filing (adds 30–60 min at the counter). No fixed monetary penalty like TM.30 yet, but officers retain discretion. Corporate and VIP travellers should always file in advance.
