Certification Chain (4 steps · total 7–10 business days)

  1. Step 1 — Obtain original document from Ministry of Finance (1–3 business days)

    Applicant must obtain the original document issued by Ministry of Finance (MOF) with official seal and signature. If older than 6 months, some destination countries require a fresh reissue.

  2. Step 2 — Certified translation by a qualified translator (1–2 business days)

    NYC Legal translates MOF documents into English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, French, German, and 20+ other languages. Each translation carries the translator's certification statement and company seal.

  3. Step 3 — Thai MFA Legalisation or Apostille (2–5 business days)

    The Department of Consular Affairs (MFA) certifies the translation and upstream signatures. 14 February 2026 onward, MFA will issue an Apostille for Hague-member destinations.

  4. Step 4 — Destination embassy legalisation (non-Hague only) (3–15 business days)

    If the destination country is not a Hague member, the document must be legalised at that country's embassy in Bangkok. Fees vary by embassy.

Apostille Transition — 14 February 2026

Thailand deposited its accession instrument to the Hague Convention 1961 (Apostille) on 24 June 2025; 14 February 2026. From that date, MOF documents destined for any of the 125+ Hague member states will receive a single Apostille from MFA instead of the full legalisation chain — saving 3–15 days and THB 1,000–5,000 in embassy fees.

Yes — into English (or another language accepted by the destination embassy), with a translator's certification statement. MFA will only accept translated versions, unless the document is already bilingual.
