Overstay penalty structure

1–90 days: THB 500/day, cap THB 20,000, no blacklist if you self-report and exit. 91–365 days: THB 20,000 + 1-year blacklist. 1–3 years: 3-year blacklist. 3–5 years: 5-year blacklist. 5–10 years: 10-year blacklist. If arrested (not voluntary), blacklists are extended in every bracket.

Safest strategy

If overstay is imminent: (1) file TM.7 before expiry, (2) border run + new visa, (3) if already <40 days over, exit at the airport, pay fine at Immigration Counter (cash or QR). Never let overstay exceed 90 days.
